Why you should still Book that Family Photo Session even in Todays Economy
Family portraits aren't just about capturing memories; they're also a way to strengthen the bond between family members. When you gather together for a photo shoot, you're creating a shared experience that can help bring you closer together.
In today's challenging economic climate, it's understandable that many families may feel hesitant to spend money on non-essential services like professional family portraits. However, while it's natural to want to cut back on expenses, there are several compelling reasons why you should still prioritize family portraits, even in a tight economy.
Capturing Memories That Last a Lifetime
One of the most important reasons to invest in family portraits is to capture memories that will last a lifetime. Time goes by so quickly, and children grow up faster than we realize. Having beautiful, professionally taken family portraits is a way to freeze a moment in time and create a lasting legacy for future generations.
Boosting Family Bonding and Self-Esteem
Family portraits aren't just about capturing memories; they're also a way to strengthen the bond between family members. When you gather together for a photo shoot, you're creating a shared experience that can help bring you closer together. Moreover, having a beautiful portrait of your family displayed prominently in your home can help boost self-esteem and remind everyone of the love and connection you share.
They Make Great Gifts
Having professional family portraits taken can also provide opportunities for creating customized gifts and keepsakes. For example, you can use the images to create personalized holiday cards, calendars, or photo albums. These items can serve as cherished mementos that your family can enjoy and treasure for years.
It's understandable that in times of economic uncertainty, budgeting for non-essential expenses can be challenging. but there’s a good chance your photographer understands the financial constraints faced by families and may offer flexible payment plans or pricing options to help accommodate your budget. Don't be afraid to speak to your photographer about your financial situation and ask if they offer any payment options. They may be able to work with you to find a solution that fits within your budget and still allows you to capture those precious family memories.
It's a (Wo)man's World
Why do I cut out 50% of my potential clients in my Branding marketing?
Simple.
As a woman with firsthand experience in marketing herself in a highly competitive, male dominated environment-I’m passionate about helping women brand themselves fiercely.
When I began photographing Reshma for her branding session, I had posed one simple question to set the tone.
“Is your industry male dominated?”
“YES!!”
She immediately opened up about her achievements, her practice and the challenge of having to constantly prove herself despite her apparent extensive expertise.
Traditional male power poses-reinvented.
We shot a mix of poses, but focused greatly on ones that are traditionally geared toward men and regarded as being “not feminine” enough for women. .
We’ve often been encouraged not to take up too much space, be polite, take the caregiver role-even in the workplace. These values are so deeply ingrained into us I swear it’s in our DNA coding by now.
So how do we shift this toxic dynamic?
We own it. We flip the script. We refuse to accept antiquated notions of what women are capable of and the power they possess. We rise by lifting others. A sisterhood of sorts. When one of us succeeds, we’re paving the way for the next woman. We face enough obstacles in the workplace, internalized misogyny need not be another.
Don’t be afraid to take up space
Take up space, raise a little hell when it’s called for, and take no shit.
The Disney Photo Session you should be booking
The Disney photo session you should be booking
Don’t worry, I won’t make you search the post for the answer-it’s Resort Sessions. But keep scrolling for why I love these sessions so much and the unbelievably cute photos that serve as proof.
Crowds are not and issue
Unlike rushing the gate for rope drop at Magic Kingdom, you have full creative control over who will be featured in your photos. Not to mention there’s not waiting your turn for the perfect photo op. Your session time is spent capturing it all.
All of the fun, none of the sensory overload
I get it-you booked the trip to enjoy the vast offerings of Disney theme parks. But let’s be honest, they can be very overwhelming, especially for the littlest travelers. The resorts are so beautifully themed and full of their own Disney Magic without the sensory jolting extras. All of the noise, crowds, sights and smells can make even the most even keeled child act a little off kilter.
You can bring a little pixie dust to your room
There are a myriad of ways to BYOPD (bring your own pixie dust). These particular clients hired a mobile Fairy Godmother to come transform her little ones into the Disney character of their dreams. I can’t begin to tell you how intimate and special this process was to document. Core memory created.

I (still) can't help falling in love with you
Only fools rush in, but only the raddest renew their vows in front of Elvis (sort of) Orlando’s finest Tiki Bar.
It’s not everyday you get the honor of photographing the vow renewal for one of your favorite drummers and artists. When Vinnie said he was in need of a photographer, I knew it was going to be something unique.
As photographers do, I saw the call on social media looking for a photographer in the Orlando area. I reached out and within moments we had booked and begun discussing the details. Tiki Bar, Elvis Impersonator, intimate-count me the fuck in.
He explained it was their 10th wedding anniversary and they wanted to make it count. It was romantic, genuine and really just rad as hell.
This Elvis was spectacular. He serenaded, thrusted those hips, and performed a touching ceremony. He even insisted the soon to be twice over newlyweds join in on the dancing. It was some of the most fun I’ve had behind the camera.
When the nuptials were over, the couple invited me to stay for one of Aku Aku’s famous Tiki drinks. Suffice to say it didn’t take much convincing.
I wish these two a lifetime of vibrant moments and a love that always makes you smile.
Never Going Back to New Jersey
Bring me back to the Garden State.
Just kidding. They couldn’t keep me away if they tried.
Traveling back to the Garden State is one of the top highlights of my year. Born and raised at the Jersey Shore (yes, that Jersey Shore) I’m all too familiar with the indescribable charm that only a state that debates whether it’s ‘pork roll’ or ‘taylor ham’ can offer. For what it’s worth. the only acceptable side to be on is team pork roll.
This year I’m scheduled for two weekends, October 22nd and November 5th. I’ve found my mini session happy place nestled in Freehold Township and every year it blows me away with it’s autumnal magic. There’s something extraordinarily special about going home to shoot. Hell, I built my entire business in NJ. I’ve watched many of my clients grow from tiny little newborns to children standing taller than me (I’m only a mere 5’2”, but still. And even after living in Florida for over 5 years, my NJ clients continue to refer me to their friends and keep me coming back year after year.
So what can you expect when you book a fall mini? Fun, seemingly small, sweet moments, and a pinch of chaos. Bring me your wild ones, your furry ones, your introverts-I’m here for it all! Just leave the grumpy dads at home. Good vibes are my specialty. Capturing your family in an authentic way is everything. I’ll lightly guide and pose you-but mostly I want you to play and have fun!
Still have some questions? Send them my way! I’m always happy to chat.
